Over the years we have come to realise that J is very much an 'out of sight out of mind' person. Now whether internally she thinks of things/people but never verbalises this to us I'm not sure.
So here are a couple of examples.:-
She hasn't been at school since December 19. Since then, apart from maybe one or two occasions in the beginning, she hasn't mentioned about contacting any of her friends.
Some time ago, before pre knowledge and diagnosis, after a meltdown we confiscated her tablet. She didn't ask about it for days after. She loves her tablet.
There are more, but you get my drift.
It seems to be that unless someone/something is up in her face, chances are they will not be in her mind... at all.
I am pretty sure it is not down to a lack of caring, maybe more like being overstimulated with cognitive functioning shutting down at times? Her intense focus allows her to totally immerse herself into her own world where she seems to just sometimes block out any social interaction.
Escapism at its finest.
