There's been many activities outside of school that J has tried, but never stuck too.
Baby Groups
She did the usual baby groups without any problems really. Joined in with other kids, no meltdowns or problems whilst there. She seemed to engage and enjoy herself.
Swimming
Up and down with swimming. Bit of a struggle to get her in, then seemed to enjoy it. Until she decided she didn't like the instructor anymore, which funnily enough was around the same time that parents were encouraged to watch from the sidelines instead of being in the pool too. Hmmm!
Sport4Tots
She actually enjoyed this. Each week was a combination of football, tennis, hockey etc. Like most things though, it ran its course and she stopped wanting to go.
Ballet
This actually lasted a while, until she was old enough to move up to the next group, but parents weren't allowed in to watch that group, so that was the end of that in her eyes. I think she genuinely loved it though. She often mentions it now. She even took part in a little show!
Gymnastics & Trampolining
This is an odd one. At one point she was forever doing gymnastics all round the house and garden and loved the trampoline. I found her an amazing class that covered both. I think she did 3 or 4 sessions before deciding not to continue.
Just great when you have already paid the fees up front! I think the problem was that the class didn't meet her expectation as to EXACTLY what she wanted to do. At the point where she was crying before going in, I realised it just wasn't going to work.
All of these groups were way before any start on the diagnosis journey by the way.

Brownies
Perfect, or so we thought....All girls, a great way to mix with others, hopefully have fun and learn too.
First session she didn't want me to leave initially...
Second session ran in on her own without even a goodbye!
Third session she ran off behind the building when the lady opened the doors, refusing to go in.
J is interested in many things, but a group environment is obviously not for her. Not at the moment anyway, and that's OK with us.
